Together with our partners Dura Vermeer, WSP, and SPIE Nederland, De Kok Staalbouw has been selected to collaborate in the coming years under the framework agreement ‘Offshore Grid – 2GW landstations’ from TenneT. This framework agreement is part of the implementation of the new innovative 2GW standard, which enables the connection of offshore wind farms and brings the generated power to land via a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) connection.
In collaboration with our partners, De Kok Staalbouw will realize the landstations, which form the link between the wind farms and the high-voltage grid. The landstations play a crucial role in converting direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) and transmitting the generated electricity to the Dutch grid.
The first project to be realized is IJmuiden Ver Alpha. The subsea cable from this wind energy area runs through the Veerse Meer and connects to Borssele. De Kok Staalbouw’s scope includes the engineering, supply, and installation of the complete steel structures for the landstations, including roof and facade cladding. De Kok Staalbouw will carry out these civil works for the 525kV DC connections, which play an important role in the power supply of the future.
We are extremely proud of our collaboration with Dura Vermeer, WSP, and SPIE Nederland, and the trust placed in us to apply our expertise together. This project marks an important step toward a climate-neutral Europe by 2050, and we are excited to be part of this national milestone.
